Verify Image and Backup Files

Image and backup file integrity can checked at any time by taking the 'Verify Image and Backup Files' menu option.

When an image file is created every block of data written is appended with an MD5 checksum to guarantee that when it is read back that it is the same data that was written to the file. It is very rare for an image to have damaged data, but it is possible.

The most likely cause of an Image file that won't complete verification is a damaged CD or DVD surface. In this case cleaning the CD / DVD may help, if not then the image cannot be restored and should be discarded.

To initiate the Verify wizard choose one of the following options:

  • Choose 'Other Tasks' then 'Verify Image' from the main menu.

  • Select 'Verify a backup image' from the 'Other Tasks' panel.

Follow the instruction in the Verify wizard.
