Restoring Files and Folders

The 'Restore Files' wizard is the quickest way to restore data files from your files and folder backup file.  If you want to browse the contents of a backup prior to restoring, then you should mount the backup in Windows explorer and copy the required files back to their original destination.

Individual backed up files greater than 4GB in size (such as DVD .iso images) cannot be browsed or restored using Windows Explorer. These files are split into multiple files of 4GB each and must be restored using the restore wizard. This is due to a limitation of FAT32.  There is no size limitation on the backup file itself, this just refers to files inside the backup archive.

To initiate the 'Restore Files' wizard choose one of the following options:

  • Choose 'Restore' then 'Restore Folder Backup' from the main menu.

  • Select 'Restore files from a files and folder baackup' from the 'Restore Tasks' panel.

  • Right click on a backup file in Windows Explorer and select 'Restore Backup...'
