CD and DVD Burning

XP

By default Reflect uses it's own built in burning software to burn CD's and DVD's.  However, these disc will not be appendable. This means that incremental and differential images are not possible. To increment these images you must format your discs with the supplied packet writing software that came with your computer, this will usually be either Nero InCD or Roxio Drag-to-Disc.

  1. If you insert a blank or erasable CD / DVD that is not formatted with InCD or Drag-to-Disc then Reflect will format the media using it's built in software.

  2. The built in burning software will burn the image much faster than InCD or Drag to Disc.

  3. If you want to incrementally append to the burnt image then you must pre-format all media used with either InCD, Drag-to-Disc or similar.

Vista

Unlike XP, Vista includes built in CD / DVD packet writing software called 'Live CD'. Reflect will always format blank and erasable media using 'Live CD'. You can pre-format blank discs but it is not necessary as Reflect will do this for you.

  1. All discs burnt in Vista will be appendable. This means that you can incrementally add to both file and disk image backups.
